The site is a single point of contact for a section of the Ramblers Association knonw as "Mid Lancashire Area Ramblers".
Whether or not you are a member of the Ramblers, you are welcome to use the facilities of this site including:-
- Using it to contact local groups.
- Downloading and using walk descriptions or walking route GPX files
- Information on footpath issues.
Within that area are a number of groups based around Mid Lancashire, namely:-
Garstang & District
Lancashire Weekend Walkers
Hike on Lancashire.
The 8 groups in Mid Lancs Area all produce their own walk programmes and communicate them directly to their members.
The Mid Lancs Area combines these walk programmes and distributes the whole Area programme to all the Mid Lancs members.
Overall, this provides members with abour 40 walks/month to choose from ranging from easy 4 miles to quite challenging and also some children's walks.

On this site, under "Group Pages", you will find links to any and all online presences of each group. For Example:-

The site also provides accesss to all the group (led) walks offered, either as an interactive list, or an interactive map.

Rambler members may join any walk from any Rambler group in the country.
Non-members are welcome to attend up to three led walks before being expected to join the Ramblers.
Under "Walks/GPX/Mapping" you will find:-
- Full walk descriptions for some 10's of walks (as at Oct 17), including their GPX files.
- 100's of walk GPX files around the country and downloadable for your use.
The "Footpath" section provides information and reports related to footpath issues relevant to the area.
Information is also provided on using a number of Mobile Apps related to navigation.
